Parish Outreach

A Prophetic People Sharing in Christ’s Priesthood
All of the baptized share in Christ’s priesthood.  This participation is called the “common priesthood of all the faithful.”  Their works, prayers, activities of family and married life, apostolic endeavors, relaxation, and even the sufferings and setbacks of life can become spiritual offerings pleasing to God when united to the sacrifice of Christ.  Such acts of God’s people become forms of divine worship that by His design sanctify the world.

God’s people also share in Christ’s role as prophet.  This means both teaching and witnessing God’s Word in the world.  Priests, religious, and laity can all collaborate in the Church’s missionary and evangelization activity, catechetical ministry, the teaching of theology, and the use of all forms of contemporary media.

Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem
Seeking to concretely respond to our Mission Statement, on July 20, 2009, the parishioners of St. Joseph Parish sent a check for $2000 to the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem through the Catholic Near East Welfare Association.  These monies will help the diminishing Catholic community in the Holy Land.

Chapel of the Virgin of the Rosary in Luque, Asuncion, Paraguay
In May 2009, the parishioners of St. Joseph, through their voluntary donations to the Poor Box from the First Week of Lent through the Solemnity of Pentecost, sent to Archbishop Nestor Cujejo a check for $12,000.  These monies will help to build a Catechetical Center and multi-use building for the Chapel of the Virgin of the Rosary in Luque, Asuncion, Paraguay.  Pictures of the beginning of construction may be seen in our Photo Gallery.
